FIFTY YEARS. ONE MISSION. COMMUNITY BANKS.
In 2024, Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI)
is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. On February 27, 1974,
five Independent Community Banks in Illinois (ICBI)
committee members signed incorporation papers with
the Office of the Secretary of State as the not-for-profit
Independent Community Banks in Illinois Association
which is now known as CBAI. From a 400 square foot
office with one employee to a 13,200 square foot headquarters
with two training rooms and a staff of 22, CBAI
has grown with the support of an amazing group of
community bankers.
During this year as we reflect on the past, present and
future, we must acknowledge the outstanding efforts of
CBAI’s chairmen/chairwomen, board members, staff and
bankers devoted to preserving the mission of community
banking. Without their tremendous support, CBAI could
not have become one of the largest banking associations
in the country. CBAI is committed to offering quality education,
effective political representation and essential
products and services to community banks in Illinois.
