Born in Massachusetts but baptized in the barns, gyms and driveways of Illinois, Indiana and beyond, the game became more than just a sport in the Heartland; it became a way of life. One of the most iconic moments ever in basketball history came in 1954, when tiny Milan High School in Indiana defied the odds to win the state championship - a Cinderella story that inspired the classic movie “Hoosiers.” The story is a classic "David vs. Goliath" narrative, showing how a small-town team can achieve great things and overcome larger, more established opponents.
