Lincoln Museum

This yearís Friday night optional activity is being held at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in downtown Springfield. The Museum will open its doors exclusively for the Community Bankers Association of Illinois for a special event including access to most museum attractions, cocktails and hors díoeuvres, as well as period music by The New Century Orchestra.

Designed by BRC Imagination Arts of California, the museumís exhibits bring Lincolnís era to life with multi-media and interactive displays, teaching visitors in an imaginative and captivating way. As you enter the 70-foot atrium at the entrance of the Museum, you immediately see entry points to different aspects of Lincolnís life.

Journey One
Journey One begins at Lincolnís boyhood cabin in Indiana, as life-like figures depict his life from childhood, to his courtship with Mary Todd, to his election as President.

Journey Two
The doors to the White House mark the passageway into Journey Two, which spans from his presidential years until his assassination, including the progression of the Civil War.

Union Theatre-Lincolnís Eyes
Lincolnís eyes become a window to the Civil War in a vibrant multi-screen presentation. Hold on to your seats! Unexpected special effects will put you in the center of dramatic moments in history.

Ghosts of the Library
In a magical presentation, our Lincoln historian tackles the question, ďWhy save all this stuff?Ē As he muses over artifacts and documents, he is joined by ghosts of Civil War soldiers and even Abraham Lincoln himself to reveal why history matters.
