Dear Illinois Community Bankers:

CBAI is pleased to recommend a FREE ICBA-sponsored audio conference titled

Community Bank Accounting and Regulatory Issues:
Post Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Conservatorship

2:00 pm CT, Thursday, September 18, 2008

In light of Wall Street's recent turbulence and the government's takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, ICBA is offering a FREE audio conference with a distinguished panel of regulators to answer community bankers' questions. The audio conference will explore issues such as:

What is going to be the tax and accounting treatment of preferred stock?
The effect on other types of investments?
What can be done to retain the value on the preferred stock?
The 60-minute discussion will also explore whether the risk-based capital treatment of Fannie and Freddie debt will change the impact on community banks with an affected capital category, and regulators' treatment of community bank capital restoration plans.

To participate in this free audio conference, click on the attached flyer. Then, complete and fax the registration form to the ICBA Education Department at (320) 352-5366.

For more information, call ICBA at (800) 422-7285, ext. 7336 or e-mail Meanwhile, please know that CBAI is diligently working on this issue. We are talking to regulators, tax experts, legal experts, banking experts, members of the Illinois Congressional delegation, and ICBA to share our concerns and ideas to identify meaningful solutions.
