New Program Helps Bank Directors Save Money!

In fulfillment of its mission to help strengthen the bottom lines of community banks for the benefit of the communities they serve, Community BancService Corp., Inc. (CBSC) is proud to introduce a program that will help reduce costs for the board members of CBAI member banks. Midwest Office Supply, CBSC’s preferred provider of office products and furniture, has developed a
program that enables the board members of CBAI member banks to purchase office supplies and furniture at deeply discounted prices that had been available exclusively to CBAI member banks.

“The boards of directors of community banks are usually comprised of community leaders who own and operate small local businesses,” said Steve DeMarco, president of Midwest. “This program gives those local business people access to low-cost office supplies and furniture usually available to only larger businesses. We encourage local businesses to buy locally, but if they are buying from a mail-order vendor or super-store, we would like to be their local alternative.”

CBSC Service Makes Good Things Happen to Bad Checks!

Returned checks have always been a problem for most businesses. Collecting an NSF check takes time and can be embarrassing for both the business owner and customer. Maintaining good customer relations is the lifeblood of any successful business.

Check Resultz, CBSC’s newest marketing partner, collects bad checks electronically through ACH at no cost to the business or the bank. And the bank earns a share of the fee paid by the bad check writer! For more information,

CBSC and CTH Technologies Partner To Offer Community Banks Data Loss Prevention Service

Data breaches have become a regular headline event. Nearly every state in the country has passed data-privacy or breach-notification laws. And more are expected. During exams, bank regulators are beginning to ask about the bank’s DLP system. Experience shows that, when regulators “inquire,” it won’t be long before they “require.”

“By partnering with CTH, CBAI members now have access to an affordable security solution that will detect and prevent the unauthorized access and transmission of confidential information,” said Robin Loftus, CBSC chairman and COO of Security Bank, s.b., Springfield.

Ten Key Elements for an Effective Onboarding Strategy

From the first few minutes of an account opening through the entire first year, financial institutions are faced with a make-it-or-break-it window of opportunity.
Research shows that new customers are the most likely to purchase additional products and services. Paradoxically, they are also the most likely to leave. Attrition during the first year ranges from approximately 35% to 45% — that's two times higher than the rate of attrition among established account holders. Effective onboarding counters this problem by establishing an early and meaningful dialogue with new customers — enhancing and strengthening relationships from the very start to pave the way to a long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationship.
